51° Natural Resources is the new name of the long-standing Commodity Club Switzerland.
Founded in 2011 by a group of professionals from the commodities sector, the Commodity Club Switzerland was established as a platform for experts and professionals to promote education, share knowledge, and develop responsible solutions and practices at all levels of the commodities value chain.
Over time, it has organized educational events in Switzerland and across Europe, welcoming commodity experts and partnering with major local and international financial institutions, universities, and associations dedicated to sustainable finance and innovative green and social practices.
These events have included multi-stakeholder panels and conferences with presentations from renowned speakers, webinars, practical workshops and training sessions, as well as the flagship educational trip format, which offers exclusive, insightful on-site visits to companies and relevant institutions in Switzerland and across Europe.
These events have created a network of professionals who can benefit from discussions on important trends in commodity investment, the latest market research, new standards and case studies, as well as networking opportunities to connect with peers.
The commitment to constructive dialogue and positive, long-lasting impact is shared by all active members, experts from financial institutions and main commodity trading companies, and its Board Members who are senior investment strategists, commodity traders and executives, as well as researchers from Swiss universities, specialising in agricultural, metal and energy markets.
The new name, ’51° Natural Resources’, represents a more progressive vision for the platform, while also signalling a stronger focus on sustainable standards and impact in the commodities sector.
The name was inspired by the remarkable Swiss village of Leukerbad, where hot spring bubbles emerge at precisely 51°C. Rich in natural elements, these bubbles provide the village with a natural and sustainable energy source, reminding us that natural resources can sustain communities and ecosystems when managed wisely. ’51°’ also represents a clear-cut scope as opposed to a 360° vision. This reflects the decision to focus on specific areas of expertise within the broad field of commodities.
51° Natural Resources is a new name and a renewed commitment, as well as a refreshed concept with new formats to engage all experts and welcome new partnerships.
