“Powering the Future. Navigating the Critical Metals Conundrum in the Energy Transition”

During this event we will examine the role of critical metals in the “energy transition”, which is the process of moving away from burning hydrocarbons that are responsible for climate change to lower green-house gas producing energy technologies.
Metals are essential in wind, solar, battery and many other clean energy technologies. There is however an environmental impact from producing the raw materials used in clean energy. For the energy transition to be successful these impacts need to be carefully navigated.
Resource depletion, recycling, mining investment are all hot topics in the energy transition. Despite the challenges in meeting raw material needs of the transition, the alternative – sticking with status quo of hydrocarbon dependency – is incompatible with meeting climate goals.
During this session we will have speakers provide their perspectives on the challenge and discuss their views on the solutions available in the market.
This will be followed by a panel discussion and social networking drinks.
